STEEL TEAM OUT OF NATIONAL CUP
New York F. C. Eliminated Local Soccer Eleven in Contest on Sunday
SCORE WAS FOUR TO ONE

The Bethlehem F. C. is eliminated in the National Cup competition. The elimination was effected in New York on Sunday afternoon when the New York F. C. vanquished the local soccer clan by the score of 4 goals to 1 before a crowd of six thousand fans. Bethlehem had advanced to the fourth round of this national classic when the New Yorkers were drawn as their opponents.

In defeating Bethlehem, the Gotham eleven avenged a defeat earlier in the season when the Bethlehem team won an American League game by the score of 1 goal to none. This game likewise was played on the New Yorkers' home grounds. Ground conditions serious hampered the Bethlehems, especially in that the footing was treacherous and offered little opportunity to resort to the style of play with which the visitors had hoped to batter down their rivals. Overhead, it was an ideal day, but due to the recent rains and snow, the grounds were soft and slippery.

It was nip and tuck between the cup rivals for twenty-five minutes after the start of the game, but finally A. Stark, by a brilliant individual effort, penetrated Bethlehem's goal. Fifteen minutes later, McAuslan headed in a second tally from a pass by McGhee on the left.

Mattes went from bad to worse for Bethlehem in the second period, for five minutes after the change of ends, A. Stark hooked a beauty over his head toward the Bethlehem goal and McAuslan scored again.

Fifteen minutes before the close of the second session, Page, in defending, sent the ball high up in the air by New York's goal. As it descended, the steel workers massed around it and MacNiven scored. A penalty against New York gave Bethlehem a penalty kick. Rattray's try was stopped by Goudert. With five minutes to go, McGhee shot New York's fourth goal.
